Committees

Five standing committees conceive and plan the work of the Isle Royale & Keweenaw Parks Association and make recommendations to the board. Committees are chaired by a board member. Association members are welcome to serve on all committees except the personnel committee. Committees usually meet at least twice a year at the same time as the board meetings.

The Membership and Fundraising Committee
Members of this committee are in charge of all fundraising efforts, including grants for special projects, the IRKPA endowment campaign, soliciting donors, and planning associated events. They also plan annual meeting events and service projects.

The Marketing and Publications Committee
Members of this committee develop marketing plans and other promotional materials and develop the publications plan, which guides the production of books, posters, and related sales items.

The Finance Committee
Members of this committee monitor the financial state of the association, managing endowment funds and other funds, proposing a yearly budget, and reviewing and proposing the annual funds given directly as aid to the parks.

The Nominating Committee
The role of the nominating committee is to identify and recruit candidates for board positions and executive roles. The committee is responsible for succession planning, which involves identifying and grooming potential leaders for future leadership transitions. The committee reviews applicants for board elections and committee appointments.

The Personnel Committee
Members of this committee (board members only) conduct performance evaluations for the Executive Director and make wage and salary recommendations for all staff.
